Why do I get different speed results each time I run the speed test?
Your internet speed depends on a variety of factors, such as being connected with ethernet or Wi-Fi, the age/technology of your modem/router, and the maximum speed your device will support. Because the internet is like a major highway of data, there can be changes in observed speed during peak hours as well. Speed tests measure the amount of traffic your service is capable of minus any devices that are currently using the internet (connected via wired or wireless). For example, if you’re subscribed to 25/3 and running a speed test, if a device accesses the internet using 5/1, your speed test would read 20/2.
Additionally, your speed test result can vary based upon the number of devices connected to your Wi-Fi network at any given time, whether you are using a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network, and your proximity to the router itself.
